Tappero Merlo
Canavese, Alto Piemonte
Tappero Merlo is situated in the Canavese region of Piedmont, at the edge of the Aosta Valley. The vineyards lie within the Ivrea Morainic Amphitheater, a geological formation shaped by ancient glacial activity. The soils are composed of sandy, stony terrain low in organic matter but rich in potassium and phosphates, which offers excellent drainage and contribute to the wines' mineral finesse and balanced acidity.
The winery was founded in 2001 by Domenico Tappero Merlo, who returned to his family’s land after a career in technology. Driven by a desire to revive the vineyards he saw disappearing, he replanted native varieties, especially Erbaluce, and committed to organic, low-impact farming methods. His goal was to preserve tradition while expressing the unique character of the territory.

2019 | $77.00 | case of 6
This 2019 is a vibrant, straw-yellow white wine with rich aromas and complexity. It opens with elegant notes of sage, balsamic hints, and spice, followed by layers of citrus, floral, and wild herbs, all carried by a distinct mineral character. On the palate, it’s both fresh and savoury, finishing smooth and warm with lingering citrus notes.
