Soter Vineyards

Carlton, Willamette Valley

Soter Vineyards was founded in 1997 by native Oregonians Tony and Michelle Soter, following Tony’s distinguished career as a consulting winemaker, organic farmer, and founder of Etude Winery in Napa, California. The vineyard is situated at Mineral Springs Ranch, a 240-acre biodynamic farm and vineyard in the heart of Oregon’s Willamette Valley. Their commitment to biodynamics is rooted in a regenerative farming system focused on biodiversity, the integration of plants and animals, and soil health. Certified by Demeter USA, the sole certifier for Biodynamic farms in the U.S., the vineyard meets the rigorous Demeter standards, which go beyond organic certification by imposing stricter requirements on fertility, pest and disease control, water conservation, and biodiversity.

Today, Tony Soter continues to honour Michelle’s legacy with an uncompromising dedication to the ideals of sustainable farming, meticulous winemaking, and environmental stewardship. The result is wines that express the unique character of the land, with an emphasis on quality and craftsmanship.

"This barrel-fermented wine blends a lush richness and ripeness with vibrant acidity, minerality and freshness. A portion went through skin contact, and it was raised in 35% new oak, giving a hint of grip in the texture that braces the golden apples, lemons and limes. So well balanced and delicious. Drink or hold."

Mineral Springs Pinot Noir

The 2021 MSR Pinot Noir is the epitome of potential. It boasts an impressive structure, firm, grippy tannins linked by vibrant acidity. It has a core of dense red fruit comingled with notes of soft herbs and a subtle hint of cola spice. It’s evident the full spectrum of this wine will unfold gradually rather than all at once. For those enjoying this Pinot Noir in its youth, we suggest decanting it to enhance the experience. However, if you're willing to exercise some patience, the reward will be truly gratifying.

Estate Pinot Noir

“This gorgeous wine is fragrant with cinnamon, rose petal and cedar aromas, then rich in black cherries, plums and flowers with a medium body and moderate tannins. A firm texture and balancing acidity lead to good length in the finish. Drink or hold.” - Jim Gordon, Jamessuckling.com: 94 points
