Champagne Philipponnat

Mareuil-sur-Ay

Located in Mareuil-sur-Ay, within the heart of a UNESCO World Heritage site, the Philipponnat estate is home to the renowned Clos des Goisses—a steep, south-facing vineyard overlooking the Marne canal, unique in Champagne for its incline and enclosed layout.

The Philipponnat family has been rooted in the Champagne region for over 500 years. This long history is not a constraint but a foundation for ongoing innovation. In 1935, Pierre Philipponnat recognized the potential of the then-neglected Clos des Goisses and acquired it, creating Champagne’s first mono-cru, long before the term “cuvée parcellaire” was widely used. Today, the House continues to thrive under family leadership, with a strong focus on Pinot Noir and an enduring commitment to quality and terroir expression.
